Minutes of the Annual Meeting of the Membership on October 30, 2004:

 

The Annual General Membership Meeting of the Epsilon Beta of Alpha Tau Omega Building Company (an Arizona nonprofit corporation), at the University of Arizona was called to order at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2004. The meeting was held in the Alpha Tau Omega Alumni tent on the campus of the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. Approximately 20 members were present. Board President Bert Ratia presided. He noted the presence of a quorum.

On a motion by Brother McMahon and a second by Brother Stonecipher, the Membership approved the Minutes of the November 8, 2003 meeting.

Treasurer Dwight Eller presented a financial report indicating a total of approximately $298,000 is assets in various accounts. Brother Malcomb briefed the membership on major stock changes in the portfolio in the past year. Treasurer Eller reported that both State Corporation Commission and IRS filings have been done for this year.

Brother Richardson briefed the membership on the status of the UofA Greek System, noting a fewer number of major fraternities under suspension or probation. He also briefed the membership on the Board of Directors investigation of possible land available near campus for purchase.

Brother Malcomb informed the Membership of the Board's decision to commemorate the chapter through the purchase of a plaque near the "Cork Tree" north of Old Main as part of the UA's National Arboretum project.

On a motion by Brother Stonecipher and a second by Brother Pegler, the following people were elected to the Board of Directors of the Building Company for 2005: Tim Abeyta, George Booth, Dwight Eller, Bill Malcomb, Tony Marrs, Bill McMahon, Bert Ratia, Bob Richardson, Robert Ruikka, Rick Rupky, Sr., Tom Sanders, and Scott Warren. The motion passed unanimously.

Under Old Business, Brother Warren asked for an update on the deaths of three members of the ATW Chapter at the University of Mississippi. The Brothers died in an early morning fire in August. Authorities have been unable to determine a cause of the fire.

Under new business, Brother Stonecipher complained there wasn't enough organization provided for Friday evening events for Homecoming weekend, but when it was suggested he volunteer to help get it accomplished, he declined. Brother Havranek pointed out an editorial in the Friday, October 29th edition of the Daily Wildcat talking about all the good that Greeks do on campus.

There was discussion about various ways to keep Brothers connected and updated on activities.

Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 11:44 a.m.
