EPSILON BETA OF ALPHA TAU OMEGA
BUILDING COMPANY
Minutes of the Annual Meeting of the Membership on November 10, 2001:
The Annual General Membership Meeting of the Epsilon Beta of Alpha Tau Omega Building Company (an Arizona non-profit corporation), at the University of Arizona was called to order at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2001. The meeting was held in the Alpha Tau Omega Alumni tent on the campus of the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. Approximately 15 members were present.
Treasurer Dwight Eller reported that the Corporation has approximately $7,700.00 in a Tucson checking account. He also reported that there have been no major expenditures since the last membership meeting except for CPA fees for the filing of Arizona Corporation Commission annual reports.
Board Member Bill Malcomb reported that the Corporation has approximately $200,000 in an investment account with Smith Barney that is administered by Brother Lee Olson. That is roughly the same amount put into the account two years ago. Brother Malcomb reported that we are expecting a $100,000 payment from Delta Tau Delta in January 2002.
President Bob Richardson reported on his meeting in August 2001, with Kim Tobiason, Greek Coordinator for the University of Arizona. Ms. Tobiason told Brother Richardson that Alpha Tau Omega is in good standing with the school and we would be welcomed back to campus with proper advance notice and planning. Brother Richardson quoted Ms. Tobiason as saying Alpha Tau Omega owes no debts to the University.
Brother Richardson also reported on his knowledge of expansion activities on the national level of Alpha Tau Omega. He passed around a list of current colonies of the fraternity and it was noted how the fraternity seems to be more interested in smaller, private schools.
Brother Malcomb reported to the membership the death of Brother Ed Stuckenhoff, '60, a cheerleader during his undergraduate years at the University and the first to suit up as "Wilbur the Wildcat". Brother Malcomb read with interest an article in the Arizona Daily Star recently where another former "Wilbur" was interested in starting a fund to honor Brother Stuckenhoff and all the University mascots over the years. On a motion by Brother Bill Gorham and a second by Brother Bill Havranek, the membership passed the following motion:
That with the approval of the Corporation Board, the Corporation donates $5,000 from the investment account to the mascot fund. Further, that Brother Bill Malcomb investigates the fund and report his findings to the Board.
The motion passed unanimously.
Brother David Alspach made the following motion, seconded by Brother Rich Rathbun:
That the current Board of Directors of the Corporation be re-elected for another one-year term.
The motion passed unanimously.
Brother Richardson reported to the membership that he hoped the Board would be able to identify Brothers from the late 1980's and the early 1990's to serve on the Board.
Brother Alspach announced that he and his wife would host the 2002 Friday night Homecoming gathering at their home. The membership expressed its' appreciation.
Brother Richardson informed the membership of the plan to further develop a Website for Epsilon Beta alumni. He indicated that the current site would be expanded to include a complete listing of all members, plus as many good addresses, phone, e-mail and other information we could gather. It would also have a "guest book" where brothers could post messages for others to see. Plus, we will continue to add both new and old pictures to the site. The listing of members and other aspects of the site would be protected by a password system. Brothers would be issued a password after they pay their $25 annual dues to the alumni association.
There being no further business, Brother Bill Pegler moved and Brother Bill Havranek seconded a motion to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously.
The meeting adjourned at 12:55 p.m.
